Making homemade ice cream can be a fun and delicious activity for the whole family. Here's a simple recipe to make ice cream at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 5 tablespoons of Vanilla (Jello – Cook & Serve)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a small sauce pan add Milk and Vanilla (Cook & Serve) to medium heat. Stir with a wooden spoon until done.
- Turn off heat. Add 1 cup of heavy cream and mix. Then add sugar, vanilla extract and salt. Mix it together.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and add 1 cup of heavy cream. Churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- After about 20-30 minutes of churning, the ice cream should be thick and creamy. At this point, you can add any desired mix-ins, such as chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
- Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for several hours or overnight to allow it to fully harden.
Tips:
- For a creamier texture, use a higher fat content in the cream and milk.
- For a richer flavor, you can substitute some of the milk with half-and-half or light cream.
- Don't overfill the ice cream maker, as the mixture will expand as it freezes and could overflow.
- Be sure to store the ice cream in an airtight container in the freezer to prevent freezer burn.
With this basic recipe, you can experiment with different flavors and mix-ins to create your own unique homemade ice cream creations. Enjoy!
